'Unfurl' - Bejewelled Coyote Skull and Painted Reliquary Base

This skull has been adorned with completely hand fabricated sterling silver and .999 fine silver elements and semi-precious gemstones. Sterling silver moths sit perched above faceted moss agates and strawberry top shells that create the manic-looking eyes. A vibrant Coyamito agate rests in the nose cavity, and hidden beneath the cheek cavities are two deep red carnelians. The rolling pink tongue is made from coral, the jaw is hinged with silver links to open. On the bottom are my initials and the year hand stamped within an ornate border pattern. Heavy duty filigree moth wings create the ears. A solid fine silver tooth completes his mischievous grin.

This skull comes with a hand-painted reliquary base, complete with buttery-soft handmade leather tassels. The base has been painted with large roses, and an atlas moth hidden amongst the thorny stems. The skull hangs via a large soldered silver ring mounted in the back.

The skull measures 8 inches long, 4 inches wide, 3.5 inches tall.
The base measures 10 inches long, 6 inches wide.
The entire piece including tassels measures 18 inches long.

This work has been signed on the back and comes wired and ready to hang vertically, or display horizontally.

This work was exhibited in Philadelphia at Paradigms Gallery for the Growth Show in May of 2016.
