Outlaw - Fox Foot Reliquary + Necklace
Animals were the first walkers of the earth:
Their paths do not sway to our laws, our roads, or our will.
They are the original outlaws.
Inspired by a long road trip through the desert, 'Outlaw' is an earnest tribute to the many roadside animal casualties found along the way.
Respectfully collected from an unfortunate road strike, this reliquary is intended as a venerated final resting place for this fox's tired feet. It was built with a heartfelt reverence for all animals, especially those that end in road casualties.
Each paw has been set into an antique style domed fob setting with a layered dagger-style bezel giving the whole piece a victorian vibe. The pendants can hang lariat style, or they can be worn hanging separately, the chain wrapped like a scarf.
The necklace measures approximately 30 Inches long from end to end, each pendant measuring approximately 5 inches long. The chain is 24 inches long, 6.1 mm thick, and made with soldered sterling links complete with a hand forged noose clasp and my signature star charm hallmarked with .925 to indicate metal purity.
The reliquary base has been handmade from wood, leather, clay, and brass and features and original landscape painting framed by a sculpted cactus frame, complete with spines. The scene is a sunset witnessed in Tucson, Arizona.
Entire piece measures approximately 15 inches tall, by 8 inches wide, 5-6 inches deep.
The back of the base has been signed and dated and comes ready to hang.
As with all handmade and one-of-a-kind jewelry, utmost care should be taken to keep jewelry clean and dry. Never wear your pieces while bathing, swimming, or washing dishes to avoid having them submerged in water. Bones and stones are porous and susceptible to become weak when they get wet. Metals can tarnish and lose their patinas more quickly if they get wet or washed with chemicals frequently. Also, please remove your pieces before any strenuous activities as they are fragile and parts could be knocked loose or fall out. Treat your jewelry like the unique piece of art that it is and it will remain in good condition for ages.
To clean, use a clean damp cloth to wipe the surfaces free from dirt or dust. To shine, carefully use a polishing cloth or a piece of felt to hand buff the surface using care not to tug the fur. Never use a silver dip or bath on this work or you will destroy the patina.
